@DavidShuster @brithume It wasn't. That would require that the main uniting idea between the 13 colonies was that of slavery, which just wasn't the case. Slavery did exist. Racism did exist. But America was founded on neither. And honestly it doesn't matter in modern politics, as this was centuries ago.
