Trying to placate the voices in my head - don't lie -everyone has 'em
9 out of my 10 voices say I'm fine. The 10th keeps yelling WHERE'S THE SEQUEL?!?!?!
@NewKrash For most common vehicles, I agree with you. But I already have zip ties, soldering iron and filler. And my labor is free. Besides, it's the base coat and clear that's pricey.
I feel your pain. This will help. Work this acronym into the email / conversation. "You'll have to get that approved by HDYRTB."
(How Do You Remember To Breathe)
(long tweet whinging warning)
I had a call at work yesterday that pushed my professionalism to the absolute limit.
I got a certificate of good standing for an LLC and sent it to the other side in a very boring corporate matter. This is routine stuff, I do it multiple times a week. No big deal.
The state this was from includes the payment information on the certificate itself which would be fine except, for some ungodly reason, this includes the last several digits of the credit card used to order it. Needless to say, I redact that before sending it to other people.
I got a call from the assistant of the attorney to whom I sent the certificate and she was all up in arms because we altered the certificate. I replied what and she said there was a clear redaction.
I replied, yes, the credit card information was redacted for obvious security reasons. She then got very huffy and said how was she supposed to be sure that was what it was.
I took a deep breath and replied, with the most teeth clenchingly polite tone of voice possible, that the redaction was directly after the part that said Payment: Credit Card - (redacted) and that it was obvious from the face of it that what was redacted was the credit card information.
She then said that was not sufficient proof and she demanded that we send the unredacted certificate. I told her that I needed an email copied to everyone else involved stating directly that we were required to provide that credit card information. She said fine.
I mentioned this to my one boss working on it and I thought his eyes were going to roll out of his head at the sheer stupidity of it all and he backed me up on the whole pesky no, you don't get to see most of the numbers for one of the firm's credit cards.
The end to the story is that, mysteriously, that email never came because I assume that someone used the puppets and explained to her that, no, you don't get to see their credit card number.
Just. Argh.
