tl;dr: index != authentication

db indexes: B+-tree, LSM-tree, hashtable, trie, ...
auth. data structures: merkle patricia tree, jelly merkle tree, verkle tree, ...

Note: most auth. structures are variants of trie, so they can be used as index too (but they are not better).

🧵There is a common misunderstanding about parallel evm because people often conflate parallelism & concurrency.

In a nutshell, a parallel evm provides 2 major benefits:
1) harness more cores to exec. txn in parallel
2) reduce cpu stalls due to IO lat. by switching to another tx
