I wrote about my depression, reading tragedy, and figuring out how to live with a feeling of inescapable despair in the current political/climate crisis!
Check it out, and other pieces in the #EndoftheWorld special, over at the fantastic @eidolon_journal
"Tragedy is not just cathartic, it’s validating. Seneca’s tragedies in particular say: yes, you were right to worry, because the end is even worse than you imagined, and no amount of philosophy will help." @cantgoodwell for our #EndoftheWorld special. https://t.co/pHZUke8DFs
@scottistvan When I told him I rode a Pinarello, a friend of my ex said, "what are you? A dentist?" And 8 years later I'm still so mad at how good a line that was.

Highland Park is not in Chicago. It doesn't even touch the city so please spare us your Chicago hot takes. Also if you don't understand Chicago suburbs? Spare us those takes too.

@scottistvan A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine. This thing has everything: space travel, intrigue, cybernetic brain enhancements, a race to solve the murder of a diplomat, non-het romance, an author who has a PhD in Byzantine history and is also a city planner.
@AshleyKirstenW So, so incredibly proud of you. Congratulations on this new phase of life, and all my empathy for what you've been through! I'm always available as well if you want to chat about life after academia!
