I work at a university and we make a huge deal over young women in male dominated fields. We have what we call "Spotlights on Women in STEM." We made a huge deal over a female graduate of the welding program. Is there reciprocal accolades for men getting a nursing or teaching degree? Of course not. What it's done is drive the number of male students in college down. Drastically. They don't want to go where they are hated.
