@NathanGraviteh I don't understand why hiring someone with experience is considered a "re-tread" -- in any other profession, if you're hiring a senior leader, having done the job before is considered an asset ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@NathanGraviteh Going forward, NTC's can/should be structured to outline two scenarios:
1. If the team wants to trade you
2. If you request a trade
So team could say "we'll give you a full NTC if we were to initiate a trade, but if you request a trade it's 15-team NTC" or something like that
@SagleScott@JFreshHockey When Mike Conley signed the largest contract in NBA history in 2016, the reaction was that the NBA had lost its mind.
A few years later, nobody talked about the contract anymore. The player stayed the same. The cap didn't.
@SagleScott@JFreshHockey First team to understand the new economic landscape and make decisions based on that paradigm will be ahead of the pack. NHL teams are notoriously slow to adjust; there's arbitrage in the interim. What seems like an overpay today could be good value tomorrow, if the right player
Look what we got here... it's a box all the way from British Columbia!
The BC Lions of the CFL are some of the most fun football you'll ever watch... and they got a heck of a QB!
Thank you Coach Pierce and the @BCLions for this awesome box!!
@DanielGScouting We've been excited about the possibiliy of Stenberg unlocking Petey...but perhaps Malhotra could be the one to do it. Petey hasn't played with someone who sees the ice like him since Kuzy
@AsherAdrian@Canucks He can't help them with what? Make them competitive right away? That's not the goal. The goal is to take the proper time to build into a contender. I think he can help there
@virjee__noah@GregKerster@dantastick@UncleLaleet I don't think a team would "waste" a draft pick over-reaching for Markus just to extract leverage from the team that takes Liam. Picks that high are too valuable to risk not being able to extract the same value from a trade
@ChrisKFilms@taj1944 I don't know what makes them good hires - that's my point. Only those who worked with them really know.
Have you worked for a boss you could do a better job than? Would you think it's reasonable if they by-passed you for a promotion just because you worked under him/her?
@ChrisKFilms@taj1944 I have NO IDEA of they're the best fits for the roles - how could any of us, without being close to their work and the process? - but I don't think you can discount them just because they're former players and have been with the team for awhile
@ChrisKFilms@taj1944 I buy your argument if we're talking about Linden - he wasn't around the team and had been running his fitness clubs. I also don't think they followed a robust process back then.
But none of those arguments are true about Johnson and the Sedins.
@irfgaffar We really need to just wait and see how the whole structure comes together. Right now, it looks like they did a massive process to find a GM, only to hire a POHO ๐คฃ๐คฃ
