The Social Sector Accelerator - improving partnerships and accelerating social investments in leaders, organizations and networks from the social sector.
As we bring our work to a close we are sharing the resources and tools we created or curated. Co-creation has always been at the root of our work and we hope you will use, adapt and iterate on these resources to advance your own missions. https://t.co/D5YgN6fdjY
Thank you for being a part of the Social Sector Accelerator community over the last five years. Our team has been honored to work with philanthropic and nonprofit leaders both in the United States and around the world during our tenure.
As of March 31, 2021, the Accelerator will cease operations as an independent organization. We will be transitioning our existing work and resources to our parent organization, @counterpartint, to support its efforts across the globe.
Mckenzie Scott’s giving directly contradicts most existing philanthropic practice by disbursing funds quickly, with full trust, no strings attached, and placing more emphasis on the nonprofits doing the work, rather than her philanthropy.
"Some funders believe that they can ignore the organisational aspects of grantees because they say: ‘we only fund competent organisations’. Yet we know from our own experience that there is always room for improvement, irrespective of size or strength." https://t.co/kbOFKldnTm
As our sector continues to question and reimagine #organizationaldevelopment, we appreciated these cross-cutting learnings from five foundations, including @oakfnd and PeaceNexus Fnd.
Stay on the lookout for @TSNE Learning Lab Case Studies in November! We're looking forward to learning more about how these orgs are developing fiscal sponsorship models to better support grassroots movements, coalitions, and other nonprofit groups.

When is #participatorydesign a good fit for your program? How do you acknowledge and compensate people for their time and participation?
Just a few Qs participants raised in our recent Adaptation Thru Participatory Design workshop. What're your Qs about participatory design?
We can lead the way on making #participatorydesign the norm within our sector. If you’d like to join us for a conversation about how to make these practices work for your foundation, email our Associate Director, Emily Wexler, at [email protected]
@p2173 writes a thoughtful piece, highlighting the need to shift power from closed-off hierarchical circles to communities to groups and individuals in the communities foundations serve: https://t.co/FnwoaEDLhP
"Philanthropy and nonprofits have the potential to demonstrate practices other institutions might follow. We’ve seen this with mission-related investing and grantmaking approaches that shift funding decisions to groups and individuals in the communities that foundations serve...”
If you'd like to join us in the ongoing process of dismantling and rebuilding the support that grantmakers provide to nonprofits and communities, please take a look at our Equity Audit tool and reach out with any questions: https://t.co/CxiAnmo9sd
"We can’t grant our way out of this crisis” and “People are always experts in their own lives” are just 2 motivating quotes from @DHerrera_PhD and Nwando Obele that came out of last week’s collaborative design session to further refine the Equity Audit.
@edwarmi speaks on #transformation in our sector: “give more money to grassroots groups, allow broader participation in decision-making, reduce the influence of corporate interests.”

The tool is for everyone and just like our own equity journeys, it will never be "done." In the spirit of iteration we're coming back to the full GEO community on October 1 for another design session. To learn more and register, click here: https://t.co/oyt8z5rDjX. Plz join us!
With our incredible partners -- Nwando Obele, @DHerrera_PhD, and the @GEOfunders Champions community -- we piloted a collaborative design process for an #equity audit tool that we can use to improve our organizational strengthening programs!
