We LOVED learning from you, Dionne! @CapHls@Harvard_Law

Ed Law Clinic students + instructors emphasize that ...their role is to clear the way to allow young people to successfully advocate for themselves, which they are capable of and ready to do.:https://t.co/h9UOef2sjN @Harvard_Law
This week I’ve been at @Harvard_Law speaking with students and faculty about the impacts of Florida’s #DontSayGay bill and what’s next in the fight for equality in Florida. 📚
“Having had a great teacher and an amazing mentor, I figured I could be both a teacher and a mentor to young kids, especially Black young men who might have gotten in trouble." -Brandon Foster https://t.co/UUNn6dGdaV
"The classroom has become a half-abandoned battlefield, where grown-ups who claim to be protecting students from the virus, from books, from ideologies and counter-ideologies end up using children to protect themselves and their own entrenched camps."
“One study found that college-educated Democrats were more likely to hold false views about their political enemies than those without four-year degrees. More education generally makes people more Democratic, but not more democratic.” https://t.co/keyMHT9nSA
2/ In my experience kids are not homophobic. In fact, they are naturally inquisitive, kind, & understanding. It’s the adults that teach kids homophobia & hate. It starts when adults in hush tones imply something is wrong & shameful. It starts with a bill like “Don’t Say Gay”
This bigoted bill is an attack on LGBTQ+ people everywhere. My heart breaks for the LGBTQ+ kids in Florida growing up just like I did who deserve to live in dignity and as their authentic selves.
I see you. And I won't stop fighting until you can.

DOE: "all schools receiving federal funding must follow federal civil rights law, including Title IX’s protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. We stand with our LGBTQ+ students in Florida and across the country." @SecCardona
-If you want to know how to make the world better for Black children, ask them
-Every child needs one irrationally caring adult @ProfKrisHenning
-We’re criminalizing childhood. Kids don't benefit from their engagement w the JJ system-we risk further harming them @marshalevick
In CAP's 2/7 AOSC class, Prof Mike Gregory talked about #TLPI’s work supporting student advocates to bring attention to their own educational needs. Chelsea from Haverhill VIP spoke about her #safeandsupportiveschools legislative + advocacy efforts.
