Fun with healthcare in 2025: Test positive for Covid after feeling off, use @AnthemBCBS's telehealth in hopes of paxlovid - only to be connected with an antivax doctor who calls the vaccine & antivirals "that Pfizer scam" & blames the vax for my symptoms.
Am I tripping?
Turns out, this was a little premature?
Happy to announce that I will be an Assistant Professor at Kansas State University's Dept of Landscape Architecture and Regional & Community Planning in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design.
Little Apple, here I come!
Time to join the chorus of academic job market outcome posts!
I'll be spending less money on moving this year, as I'll remain a postdoc at the University of Cincinnati's Lindner College of Business Real Estate Center.
Better luck next year, if universities are still hiring?
The wholesale rejection of economics by Republicans and the public really angers me. I don't have a PhD, I just have an MA, but I know a bit about economics. Half the country seem to be philistines, desiring policy based on vibes and id. Idk how to reverse this.
@FrameworkPuter I really like your mission of making consumer electronics repairable, but this really only works if parts are actually available & waiting for them doesn't create downtime.
Do you have any indication how much longer batteries for the FW13 will be out of stock?
Next year's market is still a long way out, but if any planning department, policy school, or real estate-y business school is looking for people ... do holler in my direction.

To be clear: UC Lindner has been nothing but fantastic, Cincinnati is growing on me as a place, and I only applied to a small handful of places this year.
Decades of policies have made it illegal to build housing in the safest parts of housing—and pulled hundreds of thousands of families into the path of worsening wildfires. My latest today in @TheAtlantic:
It’s astonishing to read the snarky comments of people who aren’t from Los Angeles or who have never lived in Los Angeles, lecturing those of us who grew up there about things like the height of our trees and the wind patterns. These west LA and Pasadena fires are not typical, and for some of us it’s hitting too close to home.
The most important thing San Francisco politicians can do to resist Trump is get our own house in order. San Francisco should be a promise of what America can aspire to be, not a cautionary tale for what it must avoid becoming
I'm as depressed as anybody about what just happened, but giving myself exactly one day to mourn.
Tomorrow, we start fighting back tooth and nail - starting with fighting the NIMBY cancer to make housing possible in places that still respect human rights.
Academics: What's the conventional wisdom on refereeing for fee-for-publishing journals by publishers sometimes described as predatory?
I have the time and the article I was invited to review is within my field, but only want to referee if my recommendation is actually followed.
