Our #ThermalEnergyStorage system, the Earth Energy Bank, will be powering these 47 homes year round. No need for gas. ๐ฑ๐ https://t.co/BapETcvyCq @RHarrabin@theCCCuk
@sicabc77@betateach@planetkooler@swebster56 Weโve done some retro-fit. Itโs slightly less cost-efficient as with most retro-fit solutions really, but as long as fabric is adequate it works very well. De Montfort Uni in Leicester retro-fit an EEB on their Forensics building and weโve done others in London & Birmingham.
@sicabc77@betateach@planetkooler@swebster56 Hello! This is what we do - Earth Energy Banks. We started it in 2013 when we built a demonstrator house that was carefully studied by researchers @IESD - We now have homes nationwide heated year round by our system. You can see more about the tech here: https://t.co/b57lPFK2td
@betateach@sicabc77@planetkooler@swebster56 Thanks, Nathan. It is! I was actually going to get in touch with you to share a web brochure I've just put together. I'd love to get your views.

Progress on an exciting new build in London designed by Joe Wright Architects. To be powered year round by our Earth Energy Bank #thermalstore - all heating and hot water requirements met by solar energy. #solarthermal

@ecorr_eu@eric_hawkins9 @kenbone44 Passivhaus comes at a cost also. There is an optimum cost balance between fabric and renewables.
There's still hot water requirements and need to warm the building fabric in winter. Air source is an option, but again costs and is less efficient in colder times of year.
@kenbone44 @caplinsolar uses the ground under there new builds, as a heat store from the thermal side of its PVT panels. GSHP then use this ground heat to heat the buildings, while the cooling of PV panels outside the depth of winter, increases efficiency to reduce running cost of GSHP
@Dunc_O3 @kenbone44 Our system features the Earth Energy Bank - a thermal storage technology that features a matrix of shallow bores sitting within the footprint of a building - this store is charged with summertime heat from hybrid PVT - this heat is then drawn from the store in winter with a GSHP.
Happy New Year from all the team at Caplin Solar! Here we are at the end of 2020. Most of us havenโt had an easy year, but there are definitely plenty of reasons to feel hopeful in 2021. โ๏ธ๐๐ฑ
What are you looking forward to?
@betateach@betateachpod@ThermalEarth@IESD @electriccorby Weโve also done two others in Warwickshire and Rutland, and another right now currently in build in Bitteswell, Leicestershire.
How do we build a fossil fuel free future? Heating is the UKโs biggest source of carbon emissions. Solar is the most abundant energy resource on earth. Most of the sunโs energy reaches us in the form of heat.
