Happy October y’all! We are happy to announce that we will be once again hosting our Haunted Tour! Dress warm to hear harrowing tales of hauntings on campus and learn about the archaeology and history of campus!
Details:
Where: Beaumont Tower, West Circle Dr., MSU
When: 6 P.M.
MSU program offers valuable hands-on opportunities for students. “An archaeological field school is an opportunity for undergraduate students to get an experience in doing archaeology safely,” said Stacey Camp with MSU's Campus Archeology Program @capmsu. https://t.co/5OC5fPfbG8
Established in 2005, @capmsu is one of the first programs in the U.S. to offer an opportunity for students to excavate their own campus. https://t.co/YZSN0YUoV1
Thank you to all of the folks who came out to help us backfill the observatory site today. Our incoming department chair (Dr. Andrea Louie) and outgoing department chair (Dr. Todd Fenton) offered a great deal of help! We will see you all next year :)
Thank you so very much to @facilitiesmsu for pumping water out of our units after the huge storm came through East Lansing this week. We appreciate the help so much!
Thanks to @AbramsSkyNotes, the @michiganstateu first observatory dating to 1880 was reunited with its original telescope! It's been over 100 years since the telescope was removed from the observatory, which was vandalized in 1915. Thanks to all who made this happen!
Thanks to all who attended our public archaeology day! If you missed it and would like a site tour, please message us or email Dr. Camp @staceylcamp [email protected]. We will have the site open for a few more weeks!
Come visit us today for our public archaeology day! We are out at the site from 11am-3pm (weather permitting). Our site is directly behind (south) Wills House and next to Mary Mayo Hall (west of it). The parking lot is Delta Court.
We are nearly done with the 5th and final week of our field school at @michiganstateu first observatory! We are hosting a public archaeology day tomorrow (weather permitting) from 11am-3pm. We are behind Mary Mayo House in Delta Court.
Thanks to Wali Khan from @WKAR for doing such a great job of documenting our excavations at the first observatory on @michiganstateu campus!
