@andybudd As their manager, privately remind them your goal is to help them succeed. Ask what support they need from you to succeed.

Also be clear with stakeholders that the result was not acceptable. We failed to deliver and we need to own that. Explain what is changing and why.

Hello! I have some professional news. Yesterday was my last day at Etsy. That’s still a little weird to me, but I am _pumped_ to have a couple weeks to chill. Relatedly, I am accepting movie, donut, and restaurant recommendations (in Denver, preferably).

Eventually, I want to share more about my decision to move on, but for now I’ll say that I grew a lot as an engineer and person during my time at Etsy. There are so many fantastic people who made the days fun and helped me navigate a large engineering org for the first time.

After a short break, I’ll be joining Fastly at the end of the month as a staff engineer. I am positively CHUFFED to be given this opportunity. Also, I’ll get to work alongside a small, but powerful, contingent of Six Apart alumni. What a killer group of humans, amirite?
