Issuing Income Tax @IncomeTaxIndia & GST notices @cbic_india at the last minute has become routine. If taxpayers are bound by deadlines, why aren’t officers accountable for using the entire time available? Fair governance needs fair timelines. #TaxHarassment#EaseOfDoingBusiness
📍Quick Example
You reported interest income in AY 2025-26.
The bank deducts TDS next year by error.
TDS appears in the wrong FY → You don’t get credit.
➡️ Submit Form 71
➡️ Department adjusts the assessment
➡️ You get your rightful TDS credit in the right year
✨ *Missed TDS because your deductor updated it late?*
No worries — *Form 71* saves the day!
Many times your income is shown in one year, but the TDS gets deducted or reported in another year.
This mismatch means your TDS doesn’t appear in 26AS for the right AY.
That’s where Form 71 helps.
📌 What does Form 71 do?
It lets you claim TDS for the correct year, even if the deductor made the mistake or updated the TDS return late.
📌Time limit
Form 71 must be filed within 2 years from end of FY in which TDS was deducted.
