#PBPitch Like monkeys, lemurs are our primate cousins, but "A Lemur is NOT a Monkey." A 982 word NF PB features 6 baby lemurs and the regions of Madagascar where they live.Having been to the island 2x, I love watching lemurs leap through the treetops.Children can help save them.
Happy #WorldLemurDay! How are you celebrating today?!
One easy way to support the conservation of these incredible animals is donating to the Lemur Conservation Network. https://t.co/VTAv08OV0d
We believe that lemurs can be saved from extinction if we all work together!
2 years ago today the Lucy Mission launched on its way to Jupiter. With Don Johanson, discoverer ancient ancestor Lucy, & Hal Levison, scientist in charge of the space mission. Lucy spacecraft is taking pictures of its first asteroid named Dinkinesh on Nov 1st. She is wonderful!
2022 presented a wonderful opportunity to travel again. In Kenya I was inspired to write about the amazing birds in Africa,in the works. Our trip to Madagascar was magical. Stay tuned for a story about baby lemurs. Besides ideas for writing, what adventures will 2023 bring?

Pete and I enjoyed a delightful day in DC on Sunday, starting at the Smithsonian. @IfThenSheCan featured 120 life-size 3-D printed women scientists who work in STEM fields. I had interviewed Dr. Kiki Jenkins for my current book on women ocean scientists.
@AnnetteWhipple I have a nice picture of a marine iguana underwater from our trip to the Galapagos. Fascinating creatures, especially when they shoot salt out of their nostrils!
Recently returned from a birthday excursion to Kenya. Nairobi was engaging, but it was the safari in the foothills of Mt. Kenya that touched our souls. Animals and birds from the rarely-seen aardwolf to the magnificent kori bustard. Africa is an inspiration.
Watching the NASA Lucy mission launch was a highlight for 2021. I'm looking forward to a new book in 2022. Rockridge Press asked me to write an astronomy activity book for K-1. It will be out in the spring. Maybe I also need to write a PB about the Lucy mission?
.@HumanOriginsASU hosted a “Lucy in Space” contest for middle and high school students to make a connection between the human drive for exploration of our origins on Earth and in our own solar system. Here's the winning middle school badge design! https://t.co/3MYSRD5fKR
✅ We're checking off the final items on the #LucyMission launch to-do list. We've tested its functions, filled it with fuel, and are preparing to pack it into a capsule for launch from @NASAKennedy Saturday, Oct. 16. https://t.co/qmWB9nv7jF
