Criticize a top politician in this country and you’ll quickly realize there’s no easy escape route, they’ll find you. Yet somehow, bandits and their families manage to get passports and travel freely. Make it make sense
Last Wednesday (15 May), JAS, the Shekau faction of Boko Haram, killed more than 70 farmers near Baga town. Over 100 people remain missing—most are believed to have been kidnapped, while others may have been killed in the surrounding bush. This is the latest in a series of similar attacks in recent months.
The victims appear to be farmers living in villages under the control of ISWAP. In order to remain in their homes and support their families, rather than continue languishing in IDP camps plagued by neglect and abuse, many people were forced to pay taxes to ISWAP in exchange for permission to live and fish or farm on their ancestral land.
JAS, a bitter rival of ISWAP, harbors deep hostility toward civilians who acknowledge ISWAP’s authority. It routinely targets such communities in violent attacks, accusing them of collaborating with the enemy—spying for or siding with ISWAP. This rivalry has long driven the internal conflict within Boko Haram: a brutal struggle for control over populations, territory, and key supply routes.
The fact that vulnerable Nigerians feel so abandoned that they turn to ISWAP for protection and basic survival, rather than rely on their own government, is a devastating indictment of state failure. As of today, vast swathes of Nigerian territory—in the Lake Chad Basin, southern Borno, and northern Yobe—have effectively been ceded to Boko Haram. The group controls land and water resources, local populations, and key border crossings in these areas.
To reverse this dangerous trend, the Nigerian government must urgently reassert its presence in these regions by deploying well-trained, well-equipped security forces that proactively engage Boko Haram in its strongholds, rather than simply defending against attacks. Equally important is the development of a comprehensive strategy to voluntarily resettle civilians from high-risk zones into safer parts of the country (especially Borno and Yobe), where they can access housing, livelihood support, and education. This will not only save lives but also deprive terrorist groups of the population base they exploit for legitimacy, taxation, and recruitment.
How many times have you made istikhara in your life? It's not just for a few big decisions, but a du'a we should make regularly to bring blessings and clarity from Allah (swt) in everything we do.

A kind word of advice to @NLCHeadquarters from a friend - don’t start what you can’t finish.
There are more southerners, skilled or unskilled, working in the north than there are northerners, skilled or unskilled, working in the south.
If you push this, there will be more workers heading south than the 98 young Katsina workers in Dangote refinery.
Even when you zero it to only this specific case, there are more UNSKILLED southerners working in the north for the various Dangote companies and their subcontractors than there are similar type of workers from the north working for Dangote companies in the south.
Think of what happens if the north goes beyond Dangote companies and puts every agency or company with a national footprint on the table - from government MDAs to banks to telecom companies to airlines….and everything else.
Be careful what you wish for.
This isn’t even trending. Why? Because our minds are elsewhere.
But let me remind you, conflict is not confined by borders.
50 farmers killed means more hunger, more inflation, more fear.
We need to take us serious before it’s too late.
#Borno#Nigeria#Insecurity
Any president that appoints Matawalle and Badaru as Defense Ministers does not care about security. It’s that simple. Nothing will change with those 2 as ministers
Over 50 farmers butchered by ISWAP in Kukawa. A bomb blast rocks Damboa road. Turji has ransacked over 50 villages. Katsina is a war zone
Yet Arewa Twitter is silent like nothing happened
Have we been defeated? Or do we only find our voices when the killers are Christians?
Seeing how a girl responds to being upset/angry is literally the single most important thing to look for in a woman you wanna take seriously long term.
People move on after mistreating you. They're not sitting up in a room like Brandy thinking about you. Most of the time they move on and live perfectly fine after doing you dirty. So release yourself from the shackles of waiting for someone to regret how they mistreated you
