Verducci on the broadcast says Roberts didn't want to use his high leverage guys to chase a deficit. Asking Ben Casparius and Daniel Hudson to cover the first three innings ensured they'd have that deficit.

This loss is entirely self-inflicted, thanks to the horrible pitching plan. The Yankees lineup had been absolutely AWOL and the Dodgers brought in the B squad, allowing NY to get back in the series. Every pitcher in this game so far has given up runs. They face Cole tomorrow.
