Innovation with Heart: A Backpack That Becomes a Bed!
A German startup has created a backpack that unfolds into a warm, insulated bed—with solar-powered lights and phone charging. ⚡
It’s not a full home, but it gives people experiencing homelessness a safe, warm space, a little privacy, and a chance to recharge literally and figuratively.
Small ideas, big impact. Imagine handing this to someone who has been told “no” all day—the relief, the warmth, the hope it’s priceless.
Richard Feynman stood at a Cornell blackboard in 1964 and explained the problem every AI lab is fighting in 2026. The BBC filmed it. Almost nobody watches it.
The lecture is about why nature only answers in mathematics. Every team forcing language models to reason is hitting the wall he mapped 62 years ago.
He was 46. The Nobel Prize came 11 months later. The footage survived on film reels and now sits free on YouTube with fewer views than a keyboard unboxing.
Watch the blackboard section near the middle. He takes 1 of Kepler's laws and rebuilds it from nothing, with notation a 12-year-old can follow.
No slides. No jargon. 1 piece of chalk.
An ML engineer I know paused it 4 times and made his whole team watch it before standup.
You're 62 years late. The lecture is still free.
These ancient carvings were discovered across three separate landmasses divided by enormous oceans.
The three figures shown here come from cultures separated by thousands of miles and, in some cases, separated by thousands of years.
The Gobustan petroglyphs in Azerbaijan date back roughly 10,000 to 5,000 years, the carvings in Japan’s Fugoppe Cave were created around AD 200 to 400, and the famous winged figure in Utah is generally linked to the Fremont culture, dating to approximately AD 950 to 1250.
Despite their striking similarities, archaeologists have found no evidence that these societies ever interacted. The resemblance is usually explained as a case of convergent artistic expression — different cultures independently developing similar symbols to represent spiritual beings, ceremonial figures, ritual leaders, or sources of power.
Although the images appear remarkably alike, they are generally viewed as separate creations rather than evidence of a shared civilization or ancient contact across oceans.
Archaeologists in Israel have uncovered evidence of a sophisticated pre human society dating back 400,000 years. During a standard survey before construction near Fureidis in northern Israel researchers from the Israel Antiquities Authority and the University of Haifa identified a cave used as a seasonal campsite by early hominins.
Earlier assessments from the 1970s placed the site at around 200,000 years old. New investigations by archaeologists Kobi Vardi and Ron Shimelmitz significantly extended that timeline. The findings offer an exceptional glimpse into a poorly documented phase of human prehistory.
The cave belongs to the Acheulo Yabrudian culture a transitional group that lived in the Levant region long before the appearance of modern humans or Neanderthals. Excavators recovered well preserved stone tools such as hand axes blades and side scrapers along with burned bones from gazelles and fallow deer. These artifacts indicate that the inhabitants engaged in coordinated hunting used fire regularly and maintained structured social groups.
To safeguard the site from development damage authorities constructed a road bridge above it preserving the location as a valuable resource for ongoing research.

An explosion of zinc fireworks occurs when a human egg is activated by a sperm enzyme, and the size of these “sparks” is a direct measure of its ability to develop into an embryo.
In other words, life begins with a flash of light.

On this day (7 January 1943), Nikola Tesla passed away.
The pioneering inventor and electrical engineer died of coronary thrombosis at the age of 86, alone in his room at the Hotel New Yorker in Manhattan.
He spent his final years there in quiet isolation, devoted to caring for pigeons. Tesla was later found by a hotel maid, and a house physician pronounced him dead. His legacy endures through his groundbreaking contributions to alternating current (AC) power systems, induction motors, and modern electrical engineering.
