#LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Major Jojy Joseph, 14 MARATHA LI, laid down his life in the line of duty, during a counter terrorist operation in Jammu & Kashmir, #OnThisDay 08 June 2005.

In June 2005, Maj Joseph’s unit was deployed in Rajouri district of J&K, near the Line of Control.

On 07 June 2005, intelligence sources reported terrorist presence in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district. Acting on this, Maj Joseph’s unit launched a search and destroy operation.

On 08 June 2005, Maj Joseph led the assault team to and upon reaching the suspected area, he directed his troops to cordon it off. A fierce gun battle ensued when the terrorists opened fire.

Leading from the front, Maj Joseph deployed his troops tactically and blocked the terrorists’ escape routes. He swiftly eliminated one terrorist. However, the weapon of the slain terrorist discharged a burst of fire, hitting Maj Joseph, who succumbed to his injuries.

Maj Jojy Joseph was a valiant soldier and fine officer who led from the front, laying down his life in service of the nation.
