Our engagement focused on leveraging science, technology, and innovation as critical instruments for economic diversification, job creation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development in line with the vision of the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology.

On this #WorldEnvironmentDay, we re-echo the global commitment for a safer and healthier environment as amplified by the @UN General Assembly Resolution of July 28th, 2022 - that a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment is a universal human right. We at @ProtectEarthNet in collaboration with our global partners remain faithful to this commitment for a safer environment ecosystem. That’s why we are working with @BornFreeUSA to eradicate plastic waste in some parts of Nigeria considering the immeasurable danger plastic waste pose to the survival of mammals and community health in general.

Today the @ProtectEarthNet Team, actively supported by @BornFreeUSA conducted a clean up exercise at the Nyanya Gbagyi Market - as part of the ongoing ‘Plastic Free Nasarawa State Program’ which is a prelude to the training of Women on alternatives to usage of plastic materials to eliminate plastic wastes in selected markets to encourage plastic waste recycling by market women, engaging them on “Waste to Wealth” programs, Job creation and Plastic Waste Recycling initiatives. The initiative with @BornFreeUSA will kickstart with 50 women in Karu LGA mid April and additional 50 women each spread across two other markets in Keffi and Lafia LGAs of Nasarawa State. Thanks to the Health Department & Environmental Officers of Karu Local Government Area @KaruLga for the ground support at the impacted area of Nyanya Gbagyi. Together we can empower the selected one hundred and fifty (150) women with skills acquisition in order to be self-reliant and have an alternative livelihood away from plastic products that will harm the environment ecosystem.
