@BenjiKnowsBest@bee_fumo Discs had resale rights; digital doesn’t. Steam games are licenses bound to your account; not your property. Having the files on your drive does not = ownership. They can revoke access and remove games if you connect to the client. They probably have safeguards to force that.
@wccftech Didn't these companies get punished for doing this around a decade ago? I'm all for this, they all cut production and raised prices at pretty much the same time; among other things. Where can I sign up.
@InternetH0F Perhaps they should try one focused on ODST or other Spartans instead of the chief. That way they can't mess with the character as easily.
@BenjiKnowsBest@bee_fumo You own disc, you have re-sale rights on it back then. That's why we had a thriving used game market. You have no right other than the right of use under the licenses. These can be revoked and removed at their discretion. If you download them, access can still be revoked.
@BabycornXL@bee_fumo Digital ownership is different from physical ownership. You can give away or sell copies, but it can be considered copyright infringement.
It's completely different, Valve can take away your account and games at their discretion. You own a license to use it. No refunds.
@BabycornXL@bee_fumo You own the games you buy on GoG. You buy it, you download it, you own it. You keep the installer saved and you can re-install whenever you need to. Most games are also DRM free.
@bee_fumo You don't own any of your games on Steam. Valve was one of the companies that pushed the hardest for licensing of games over ownership. Stop making them seem like some altruistic company. Valve is not consumer friendly.
@alexschneid3170@j_fishback AFAIK, He can influence and enact laws that can affect abortion clinics and data centers, but he would have no power to set tuition rates.
@Grummz I think they should have just stayed non-exclusive for the rest of this generation. Perhaps timed exclusives. Use it to build a bigger audience. Move the big title games back into exclusivity for the next generation. Will 2 exclusive games really do much? Next gen is not far off.
@BrandonStraka@TRHLofficial@mplpodcast305 Honesty, it was rough to sit through. I had to watch it in parts because of Linda; she seems to think being loud somehow makes her argument stronger. She dragged the MAGA side down a lot, and even without her, they were clearly the weaker group in this event.
@Blacksteel25@Grummz This has little or nothing to do with protecting consumers. It’s all about their bottom line. Valve didn’t protect consumers when they basically spearheaded the industry into licensing over ownership of games.
@Grummz Scammers are one of the least likely reasons they are doing this. It's about making more money and/or cutting costs. They should at least be honest about it.
