@Herdment1717 @madamscientist The nih or nsf do not continue to find labs that don’t publish quality papers. In fact if you falsify a paper you will get fired, fine and ban from applying by to grants. In fact every year a lab has to fill out a progress report to show what was accomplished

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@Herdment1717 @madamscientist College and a lab that is run by a pi is very different. So I am not sure why you are talking about college in general.

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@Herdment1717 @madamscientist You need income to pay anyone that works for you. No one works for free.

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@Herdment1717 @madamscientist Think of it like a business. The nih and nsf are the investors, the professor is owner of the company and the graduate students and postdocs are the employees.

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@Herdment1717 @madamscientist Why are we paying graduate students to work in labs you might ask? Graduate students and postdocs are the workers that make the basic science discovery that allows for the development of new treatments.

@bottwater @SSWorks Also you don’t pay payroll taxes ( social security and Medicare) when you are retired. You pay taxes to pay for the government services you depend on.

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@bottwater @SSWorks Social security is not a tax because it is not revenue for the federal government. It goes into the social security trust fund. It is basically a pension. Also if you take out anything over 35k a year out of a 401k (assuming it is not a Roth) you pay taxes on that income too.

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@Jim_Jordan And all of Trumps cabinet picks…

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@Jim_Jordan You forgot to include Trump on that list….

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@bottwater @SSWorks Nether is your social security…. That comes out pre tax just like your 401k. I am also sure that you put in more every month to your 401k then your social security.

@TheDrugMoney The public library!

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@nanato_nine @Angry_Staffer Sadly, this is not how it would work. Vaccines work because we have herd immunity. This herd immunity helps protect populations that can’t get vaccinated due to health reasons and prevent viruses from mutating and making all the vaccines no longer useful.

@Ladygraywolf_06 @CrazyChef168453 @MiaJess98 @realdogenews The people who own the apartments pay the property taxes. Renters pay rent which cover property taxes . If you rented out your house you would still pay property taxes. Homeowners do not bear the burden for those living in apartments.

[Dr. Cara Moravec @CaraMoravec]

@Angry_Staffer Well that was a mistake, I don’t feel like we have a chance at winning now :(

During a shutdown, many agencies such as the National Park Service are also not permitted to update websites and social media pages.

That means the viral park service social media promotions of Fat Bear Week would halt. https://t.co/beuxDluZpP
