On far right thugs vs the true working class. My Great Grandfather collected shoes for people coming to our town trying to find work. He, himself, could only get work miles away and knew they would need them. Often they arrived with shoes barely hanging together. 1/
@LukeTryl It’s ungovernable, not because of voters, but because of financial interests stopping governments from being able to spend the large amounts of money needed to kickstart the economy. They are making us circle the drain.
@DanNeidle@rcolvile Worse, they hid the fact that government had provided an incomplete remedy by their deadline and have allowed other deadlines to be missed disastrously. I have suffered financial losses because of this and they have so far denied responsibility. They must pay and with damages. 2/
@DanNeidle@rcolvile For a better scandal look at how the government and pensions admins have taken seven years and counting to pay back money unlawfully taken from public sector pensions, as per the McCloud judgment. Many have still not even been contacted yet, many have died waiting. 1/
@AllyFogg This is what happens when adults make themselves the driving force behind what constitutes CSA and not children themselves. No votes in doing that, though.
@MartinSLewis If they don’t the same in retrospect for teachers who have waited since the McCloud judgment in 2019 to be reimbursed for unlawful underpayments our anger will explode. If they think that only civil servants deserve recompense our anger is going to boil over.
@ntouk It’s the same as the teachers scheme and government have ignored us for years. We demand justice and full reimbursement of financial losses sustained got the McCloud fiasco.
@FJMcNally So when are government going to punish Capita for the McCloud payments scandal? Government is responsible for that too and the financial losses we’ve been suffering for *years* runs into many thousands. We will have justice, whatever it takes.
@AndyMcDonaldMP So when are government going to punish Capita for the McCloud payments scandal? Government is responsible for that too and the financial losses we’ve been suffering for *years* runs into many thousands. We will have justice, whatever it takes.
@MartinSLewis Please don’t look at civil service and not teachers, we’ve suffered what civil service are newly finding for years. Doing so would destroy us, teachers have been trying to get publicity for our plight for many years.
@MartinSLewis Look at the whole public service pension system. The McCloud Remedy has been catastrophic with delays in implementing it putting people in debt and many dying without getting what was unlawfully taken by government . Capita (teachers and now civil service ) are the worst.
@MartinSLewis ... I am finding it impossible to reach anyone to talk about my having to keep servicing their debt to me. About a quarter of my pension every month goes on doing that. I need that money back now, can someone please tell government? Could anyone please contact me to discuss? 3/
@MartinSLewis ... as a result of being underpaid on my pension and lump sum. Not good but made worse because information was hidden from me by the government and pension admins, making any financial planning impossible. I had to use FOI requests to get any information. At this point.... 2/
@1goodtern This is a good (but long) primer. It gives a number of options for the US but not the one they appear to be using - that being 'steal other country's stuff'. Venezuela now, Greenland next? https://t.co/lZp5mxDZPP
@1goodtern The petrodollar (see also Iraq and Libya). Without its pre-eminence the American economy is screwed, given its massive debts. This is the hidden war, against de-dollarisation and against non-fossil fuel energy. It is a last throw of the dice to keep the US solvent.
@ElectionMapsUK Recent history shows that a Reform majority of ten would last a few weeks at best. When the openly fascist, the ones that can't be arsed, the ones who have a bust up with the leadership are taken into account it looks like any majority short of 60 or so would be pretty shaky.
@1goodtern Looking at the exposing of the Sri Lankan influencer making money off gullible bigoted Brits and there really is no difference to people like Coburn, Farage, et al. Their whole scam is to get stupid people angry whilst their actions show that they are doing it only for money.
@globalhlthtwit Teachers knew this years ago, whilst the powers that be were saying that children 'weren't affected'. The whole response in the UK was designed around that false statement, so now the policy makers, and those who advised them, need to pay for making that choice.
@SimpleGull@MartinSLewis VAT paid. Customs, however, would be done here by an army of staff to move tens (hundreds?) of thousands of parcels every day through the system. The current de minimis was needed to stop the system breaking as more individuals started importing, it’s madness to reimpose it. 2/
@SimpleGull@MartinSLewis Then add them to the blacklist, a small bureaucratic hurdle compared to the massive mess that will be created if all incoming parcels have to be checked, valued, charged, money received and so on. As an example!, I just got a CD from Germany. Cost around £10. Arrived in days. 1/
