Today is the first day of the 2026 #HurricaneSeason ⛈️
CARE is strengthening disaster response programs across the U.S. and working with women-led organizations to help families prepare, respond, and recover.

Congrats to @CARE -- and to the world -- on the 80th anniversary of the original CARE package to families recovering from WWII. It was a symbol of American generosity, as CARE still is today.
Still energized thinking about our @CARE PACKAGE® Pop-Up in NYC last week! Join us, share the story, and help turn care into action in your community and around the world. https://t.co/EoqdjYtHly
Women farmers are central to fixing broken food systems, yet they remain excluded from the technologies, financing and markets needed to scale solutions. New research from CARE shows that reducing food loss and waste requires gender-responsive design, investment and partnerships.
Empowering women farmers can strengthen food security, resilience and climate outcomes globally.

Happy International Tea Day! 🫖
Tea is one of the most popular beverages in the world, but for Monica and others, it represents something more.
In 2023, CARE Tanzania and partners established the Sakare Specialty Tea Company (SSTC), the first smallholder farmer-owned specialty tea factory in Tanzania to process its own orthodox (wholeleaf) black, green, and specialty teas on-site. Despite being unfamiliar with tea processing, Monica took a chance and applied for a job. And in October 2024, she was hired to become a processor.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) declared its 17th Ebola outbreak on May 15, 2026, after cases were confirmed in Ituri Province.
The World Health Organization has classified the outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, highlighting the risk of regional spread. Suspected cases have already been reported in Goma, a major transit hub in the DRC, and in Uganda, which shares a busy border with the DRC

At a rooftop gathering in Atlanta this week, dozens of women gathered for an event to hear about CARE’s focus on maternal health and prepare 200 CARE packages for mothers that are part of the nonprofit’s pilot program in Georgia.
Into bags emblazoned with the CARE logo went baby wipes, socks, a manual breast pump, a teething toy and other items.

Conflict in the #MiddleEast is fueling a growing global hunger crisis.
In #Somalia, disruptions and rising costs linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have caused the price of life-saving treatment for severely malnourished children to more than triple, putting critical care further out of reach for families already facing extreme hunger.
As global conflict drives up food, fuel, and aid delivery costs, vulnerable communities are paying the price.

Nearly 100 CARE staff came together at our Atlanta headquarters this week to celebrate 80 years of the CARE PACKAGE® — a symbol of compassion, solidarity, and hope since 1946.
From packing disaster relief supply kits to reflecting on the legacy of the very first CARE PACKAGE® delivered to postwar Europe, the event honored the power of community and collective action across generations.
As humanitarian needs continue to rise around the world and here at home, CARE staff marked this milestone by assembling hygiene kits and essential supplies that will support women, families, and communities facing crisis.
