Our research shows that there is a clear absence of public infrastructure to support (im)migrant workers in general in Manitoba. But for (im)migrant #careworkers, who often work in private, domestic and/or unionized sectors, there are even less resources to access.
🎧[Podcast] @tungohan, Jhoey Dulaca of @MWACCanada, and Chris Ramsaroop of @j4mw share the barriers and challenges #migrantworkers face once they are forced to move to Canada. Many leave their home countries for a better life, but actually face years apart from their loved ones.
In this episode of Courage My Friends, migrant workers activists Ethel Tungohan, Jhoey Dulaca, and Chris Ramsaroop discuss the unfair treatment of migrant workers in Canada. @j4mw@tungohan

‼️ question Chris (@j4mw) posed is one that our team reflects on:
"Who benefits from the system of #migrantlabor in Canada, especially in terms of what was happening during COVID-19?" We need to look closer at the distribution and outreach for funding given to migrant workers.
Crucial to the success of this project is our partnership with the migrant justice group, #MigranteManitoba (a member of @migrantecanada) and employing a community-based, participatory research process to connect with home care workers.

On Sept 10, #MigranteManitoba and me will have an online forum on our @SSHRC_CRSH study. We invite migrant advocates and migrant workers to join us as we develop an understanding on how we can advance justice for im/migrant #homecare workers.
