My latest art project - a window installation at 525 Carrall Street (@valucoop building in Chinatown Vancouver) for #FilipinoHeritageMonth. This piece is inspired by two things: a poem I wrote for Volume Three of @chinatown_today and conversations with Filipino seafarers.
How migration is not a choice, but a means to survive. And many are forced by poverty to migrate. Landlessness for the majority of the Filipinos who live off the land and lack of national industries to provide Filipinos with decent jobs are at the root of this miserable reality.
We are demanding @COMELEC to provide an explanation as to why thousands of VCMs passed final testing and sealing—and suddenly all broke down today. At habang nag-aantay kami ng explanation niyo, #ExtendVotingHoursPH! Hindi po kasalanan ng taumbayan na pumalya ang mga makina niyo!
Young people at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila, standing up against fraud-tainted results of the May 2022 elections. Send them your support. Join them. Send food and water. Amplify their calls.
We (the Filipino people) are in the fight of our lives right now. We will never forget how the Marcos family wrecked 🇵🇭, nor will we allow their return through a rigged election. We will take to the streets and show them that the broad opposition WILL keep them out. #Halalan2022
just learned that I had a mild heat stroke without realizing it & then woke up to another “normal” day in the Philippines 🇵🇭 (aka violent state repression from dictators such as the Marcos-Duterte tandem, activists being arrested/tortured on trumped up charges, etc.)
LOOK: Armed personnel spotted in front of the polling area and within the 30-meter radius, in President Corazon Aquino Elementary School, Batasan Hills, Quezon City.

#VoteReportPH: Precincts #1238, #1284 and #1285 in Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City encounter issues as vote counting machines (VCM) stopped working. After waiting in long lines to cast their votes they were asked to return after lunch. #Halalan2022
QUICK STATEMENT: Kontra Daya calls on the COMELEC to consider extending the voting hours beyond 7:00 p.m. The breakdown of VCMs and the long lines, among other issues, have affected the turnaround time in voting. Extending voting hours can help prevent disenfranchisement.
TW: Murder, election violence
We have been forwarded a credible report of election violence in Brgy. Magonaya in Binidayan, Lanao del Sur around 9am. Local goons destroyed ballot boxes and beat a man to death, in an attempt to disrupt electoral proceedings.
#BaklaBantayBoto2022
We are calling to immediately de-militarize our voting precincts. AFP, PNP, and other armed personnel are PROHIBITED from entering our electoral spaces! #BaklaBantayBoto2022
We in @baklabantayboto are seeing a huge volume of broken vote-counting machines, military deployment, clear acts of electoral fraud including secret distribution of sample BBM ballots. Just 3 HOURS after polls opened!
This is shaping up to be a ridiculously fraudulent election.
