In other words, THT is not “like” Iran - it’s directly referencing Iran.

Yes, women’s rights vis-à-vis health access has been seriously damaged in certain U.S. states. It is concerning and has had severe consequences - sometimes fatal - for many, many vulnerable women.

However…

I, like others, am quite done with people in the United States who on one hand dramatize the precariousness of women’s rights here by speaking as if we already live in Gilead (we absolutely do not, that’s preposterous) and simultaneously have no clue as to how absolutely horrific the conditions have been for Iranian women under its abusive regime. It’s not even a comparison. The magnitude of oppression is beyond the scope of understanding for mononational American women. We have never and will never see that here. There is no category of American women alive today that has been as abused by our government as have Iranian women by theirs.

It boggles the mind that I have to even say something so obvious. People have lost the plot.

The right's is internal - life is what they make it. One places blame, and the other takes responsibility. We are not the same.

Political violence is contagious. It is spreading. It is not confined to one side or belief system. It should terrify us all.

The foundation of a free society is the ability to participate in it without fear of violence. Political violence is always an attack against us all. You have to be so blind not to see that.
