@MezzoHS @texasrozanov i so agree. their post just struck a nerve in me😅 when social media and screen addictions are already weakening people’s brains and attention spans, it worries me to see people frame reading (especially reading arguably short books) as so egregiously time and energy consuming

@MezzoHS @texasrozanov i agree that reading whole books at once takes time that most people don’t have, but i can’t imagine taking 14-15 hours to read a 200 page book. a 200 page audiobook is like 5-7 hours. if you take breaks (as you should) it could be 15 hours but 200 pages is really not that many

i love fanfic and have read fanfics that i like as much as my favorite books or that are even comparable in quality, but idk, it’s good to read a physical book. it’s good for your brain. read a book and think about the book and write a review. it’s good for you.

when people compare fanfic reading to novel reading, there are always people who say they’ve read fanfics that are better written than published novels, which is cool and all but in 95% of cases it feels like comparing an artful tiktok short film to a full length movie

yeah some fanfics are 100k words and have amazing grammar and good writing, but many of them are mostly short and fun. it’s okay to like reading fanfic because it’s fun. it doesn’t have to be “just as good as reading a novel.”

before going on t my libido was nonexistent, probably because i'm on zoloft, but now my horniness has penetrated the sexless fog of ssris and created a whole different issue, i.e. my entire dick and balls feel terribly bruised from how much mileage i've gotten out of them

watching snl live and tearing up because of how terrible it is. each sketch is grating and awful and followed instantly by ads that feel as long as the sketches themselves, but i can’t turn it off because connor storrie is genuinely excellent despite the horrendous material
