My opinions are obviously my own.
I don't reply to people who are rude or offensive, I will just block you.
Justice, truth and fairness really matter to me.
When I see deliberate propaganda and false narratives, I will speak up.
When good people are wronged, I will speak up.
I think it's important to do so, because otherwise what are we but amoebas?
ā Monday: Hot Take
The monarchy is looking like a fucking joke.
Somebody has to say it.
First, weāre told the Kingās own son canāt get the level of security he believes his wife and children need to safely visit the country where he was born, raised, served in uniform, and represented the Crown.
Now reports say Buckingham Palace has withdrawn the offer for Harry and his family to stay there after a dispute over whether his team responded in time while trying to sort out⦠the fucking security.
Think about how insane that sounds.
His team was trying to figure out the security before committing to the trip.
And somehow thatās what became the issue.
Who the fuck is running Buckingham Palace?
And before somebody says, āThe King doesnāt control securityā¦ā
Fine.
Then letās talk about the people who do.
Whereās the government?
Whereās the Home Secretary?
The UK is now in the lead-up to hosting the Invictus Games next year.
This āOne Year to Goā moment should be about the veterans.
It should be about service.
It should be about Britain showing the very best of itself.
Insteadā¦
Weāre talking about security.
Weāre talking about accommodation.
Weāre talking about palace drama.
Again.
Tomorrow thereās an expected court ruling in Prince Harryās case against the press. Whether you support him or not, thatās another moment likely to put this issue back in the spotlight.
Prince Harry is still a member of the Royal Family, even if heās no longer a working royal.
So hereās what I donāt understandā¦
Wouldnāt this be the moment for the Royal institution to rally around one of its own?
Wouldnāt this be the moment to put the veterans first?
Wouldnāt this be the moment to show the world what Britain does better than almost anybody elseāservice, tradition, and respect for those who have worn the uniform?
Instead, the headlines keep pulling the attention somewhere else.
Whether thatās coincidence or simply the way events have unfolded, the result is the same.
The focus shifts away from the competitors.
Away from the veterans.
Away from Invictus.
And thatās a damn shame.
You can spend all day trying to protect the image of the Crown.
But if protecting the image becomes more important than showing leadershipā¦
Sooner or later, there wonāt be much of that image left to protect.
Is this actually because if H wins his court case this week, the RF will look like they're harbouring an enemy of the very press barons that the RF must keep onside?
How frightened they must be of what those tabloids could write about them!
Might it shake the very foundations?
How to make yourself look like a cold and unwelcome father and grandpa. Take away the offered accommodation, refuse to make sure your son and his family are safe - and announce it so everyone knows of your meanness.
How Christian.
And from the head of the C of E, no less!
Imagine if post-Dimbleby book and interview, the Queen had taken all his homes away and his security. Of course, she did no such thing - regardless of how hurt she may have felt.
š Good summary for those who don't get it. Harry also offered to pay for the police protection to remove the burden to the taxpayer, but was told that UK police can't be 'bought'. But we are constantly being told that the king pays for Andrew's police protection, so which is it?
Yes you are missing a lot.
Harry funds his private security team in the USA who carry weapons. They follow him and his family anywhere they travel.
In the uk, they also bring their security but they are not allowed to be armed. The police do not provide additional protection to Harry or his family.
Harry is supposed to have whatās called a risk assessment done on him every year because he is a senior member of the royal family who has a high level of threats against him. They stopped doing it in 2020 without explanation and heās been fighting to have it done for the last 6 years. This risk assessment is the key to getting his full time police protection reinstated.
The reason why the government wonāt do it is bc of interference from the palace who donāt want it done bc it will allow Harry and his family to travel more freely to the uk and around the uk. And the royal family simply want to keep them out. They want them in exile for life.
Thatās the long story short of it.
The days of chains like Starbucks and Cafe Nero using aggressive tax avoidance schemes needs to come to an end.
It's not right that your local independent coffee shop has probably paid more corporation tax than the two of them combined.
It's really odd how you can write about all manner of things on here, but write something supportive about Harry&Meghan, you will get swamped with abusive, half literate responses from a bunch of folks, who when you look at their profiles seem to be spend most of their time...
@Wolfonabridge How do you work that out? He has always had respect for the UK. He loves this country and wants to bring his children to visit, he's said that countless times. He just doesn't like some of our media (with just cause).
@FORMERLYaeduko@Mackingday I genuinely don't get it. It's like being in the playground. You state something and instead conversing in a normal fashion, they come back with things like shut up, you're stupid, you're wrong or worse. How do they manage in real life?!
