This is so deeply upsetting, I can’t find words to express my shock and sadness. Mourning the loss of these students and thinking of their parents, family, friends, and all the members of our community who will be so affected by this. RIP, love to all.
Today our UBC community is mourning the tragic deaths of two students.

🎉 Congratulations to LFS researcher @TamCohenPhDRD & @DrAlberga (@Concordia) on receiving a @CIHR_IRSC grant for their national project to find issues important to pregnant women during maternity care visits. (1/2)
Do you realise what a radical thing libraries are? Publicly-funded spaces where you can access information, countless books, and the internet even if you are homeless? There is a reason why people in power want to convince you they are superfluous and should be defunded.
Agree with this 100%. Such a powerful way to support and celebrate people - and, more often than not, I find it actually brings tears of happiness/gratitude to my eyes to be able to acknowledge others' amazingness 🥰
Hey, you.
Build someone up today. Pump their tires. Tell them how often you notice the things that make them great.
Your partner, your friend, your neighbour, your parent, your barista, your colleague, it doesn’t matter who. Just build them up.
Then start again tomorrow.
@SteveUBC If we are still in Phase 3 when classes start, and organized gatherings are limited ("Indoor organized gatherings 50 people or 50% capacity, whichever is greater" https://t.co/FCehqN4qM2), it seems like most in-person classes actually cannot proceed face-to-face? @ubc@ubcprez
So many @ubc classes include hundreds of students in cramped quarters with little ventilation (actively engaging with each other, talking! laughing!). Please protect our learning environments @ubcprez and implement vaccine mandate at #UBC - our safety and wellbeing depends on it.
B.C. government says vaccine mandate will be in place in post-secondary education student housing, indoor clubs and gyms, and a host of other places, but NOT in classrooms.
However, individual universities and colleges can build on these policies on their own, if they choose.
The report "included one unambiguously positive finding: the level of devastation we face is in our collective hands. If the world slashes emissions now and reduces them to net zero by 2050 we would... avoid the worst impacts of climate change." https://t.co/S5LkRTToDN
Any UBC students 18-30 years old interested in volunteering with the 'Stop Marketing to Kids Coalition' to advocate for fulfillment of Healthy Eating Strategy commitments to restrict marketing of unhealthy food/beverages to children? Check out info here: https://t.co/AKqkPgeIJd
Please keep signing and sharing—with enough signatures and momentum the government won’t be able to ignore our call to stop funding climate polluters. Sign our petition now: https://t.co/2MMMh7gQ3r #bcpoli
Old growth forests are nature's way to keep us cool during heat waves and keep our planet cool by storing massive amounts of carbon. It's clear that old growth forests are worth more standing, and it's past time the @bcndp stopped logging what remains.

Vancouver and the entire region is baking right now…
The Medium article linked here is so apt — one of many calls to act we so desperately need to listen to. To save a sliver of our imperfect world.
@funnyfishes Wow, this actually instantaneously brought tears to my eyes, and I had to stifle a sob, trying not to alarm those around me. So important!
