@fergustp @David__Osland For every £1 earned UC deduct £0.55 making claimants better off overall working more hours. For many it’s the extra cost of transport to and from work, childcare costs etc that stop them working more. UC often mess up the contribution towards childcare costs too.

@MartinSLewis @itvMLshow We’ve never had the funds to get wills sorted and as we had no assets we didn’t see the point - except since my dad has died, his half of the house is in a trust of which I inherit 1/3 so maybe now is the time to sort it.

@EviolitesMR @ChasingGlimmers Universal Credit basic element. They also award payments for rent, children, childcare and sickness/disability (if you qualify) but all of these are reduced by 55% of any wages you receive. It’s not much to manage on and quite often rent isn’t covered by the rent element.

@Kukkucca @ChasingGlimmers There is an extra element of Universal Credit for limited capability for work and work related activity which adds an extra £400 ish a month, but the length of time it takes to go through the assessment system to get it is ridiculous.
