The standout artwork in the new @FCDOGovUK reception is Joy Labonjo’s Portrait of Ignatius Sancho. Sancho was a former enslaved man, writer and composer who ran a grocery shop on what is now the site of the FCDO. 🧵
Goodbye to the Shed, the finest of Embassy bars, featuring a Tardis, a piano, plenty of Union flags, a life size Barbie cutout, staff goodbyes on the wall (including mine!), and only a small number of dead mice. Long Live The Two Georges!
