@tellish001 Could you share the link for the task cards for first grade? I would love to check them out. I think task cards are a great idea for the little ones to get them engaged in a problem or challenge.
@ericcrescenze That sounds like a great idea! A student created fitness video would be an amazing use of technology and building with different equipment would be a great way to use MakerSpaces in P.E.!
@Hickman_wilmU Hi Erica! I teach first grade in an inclusion classroom and my students do not have access to iPads or chrome books. They get computer time each day in reading/math on our desktops. They love interactive math manipulative to solve problems and math games such as abcya. #wuedt6020
@Dana94938524 Hi! My favorite emerging trend is MakerSpaces. Since our school does not have much technology available to our student, MakerSpaces is something that anyone can make possible in their classroom with limited technology. My kids love exploring materials and building. #wuedt6020
One social media technology that I could use to connect students all over is blogging. I would have my students set up accounts and follow each other to have discussions about their writing. We could also follow other local first grade classrooms to share ideas. #wuedt6020
@tellish001 Hi Jamie. ePals sound great for communicating globally with other cultures. I will have to check this out and try it with my first grade students. They would love writing and receiving letters from students around the world. Collaborative projects sound like a great idea as well.
@DMMteacher I love your idea to use Skype with your students to connect with other students around the world. I think it would be very powerful for my students to see the other students while talking to them and be able to experience more of their culture.
@Dana94938524 Hi Dana, I think I will try task cards as well. That is a great idea to help students get started and focus on a problem to design a solution for. They will be working in small groups so someone will be able to read to the group. I am following some makerspaces groups for ideas.
@Agoodman001 I agree with you Annie and can't wait to try makerspaces in my first grade classroom. I would love the ability to use more technology with my kids although our options are limited in my school. A 3D printer would be amazing.
The trend I will likely implement in my classroom is makerspaces because my students are in first grade and love creating. I will start by creating a "makerspace" in my classroom where they can use the engineering design process to create solutions to problems I pose. #wuedt6020
