@eringobraghIess We have a union..... but we’re a government entity and the government (nationally) doesn’t recognize EMS as an essential service... don’t get me started 😠
Y’all I am SWEATING and kind of want to CRY because I just found out that people receiving unemployment pay are making MORE MONEY THAN I AM AS A PARAMEDIC
And before you tell me “yoU’rE lucKy YoU haVe A JoB”
I have heard more than one story of people I KNOW turning down JOB OFFERS because they MAKE MORE being unemployed THAN I DO AS A PARAMEDIC
It is my great honor to declare Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer. We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these....
And, sadly, not even a PANDEMIC will get EMTs and paramedics the governmental recognition and pay increase that they deserve.
Firefighters, though... they will get extra supplies and are making national news? Are they transporting patients on their ladders now?
But... like... could everyone ALWAYS care this much about the stress on our healthcare system?! Could everyone ALWAYS be this thankful for your healthcare providers?!?
To all who just got the hopes of a state or national title stripped from you, to the seniors approaching their last year, to those who worked so hard to recover from an injury to get back to the sport you love, to those who love to compete. My heart goes out to you. I’m sorry
This misunderstanding has led to a mass hysteria that is so unnecessary. Handle things as an adult should, and we can stop this in its tracks.
-Wash hands and sanitize surfaces
-Stay home if you feel ill or may be getting ill
-Protect those at higher risk for ALL illnesses
What you all don’t understand is that you think events are being cancelled BECAUSE COVID-19 IS so bad.
Events are being cancelled to PREVENT COVID-19 FROM getting that bad.
This is public health in action, y’all.
