Every level of government is making it impossible for people to have any sort of livelihood.
We pay insane amounts for groceries/gas/mortgages/rent/bills, cell phones/internet and likely soon to be healthcare.
When do you start doing things FOR us instead of TO us?
@YEGBonnie39 Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. Such burdens your family endures. Sending positive wishes for your brother’s recovery and much strength for you as you navigate this new frightening challenge.
Boomers’ net worth median sits near $410k for ages 65-74, with the high average of ~$1.8M pulled up by the exceptionally wealthy top end. The bottom 25% has less than $100k net worth.
Household income median is $57k with lower end ~ $35k
Generalizing Boomers’ wealth for the financial performance of the top decile feeds the narrative of the contemptuous generation that purposefully fleeces the young and pits groups against each other.
While overlooking the fact that we have all benn properly fucked by inflation and idiotic economic policy.
@FreeAlbertaRob In a 2021 referendum, voters rejected a proposal to establish permanent DST. The same government has now rejected those voices. This government has lost my trust.
@md_butcher@kinsellawarren It’s not possible to be best friends with the USA under the current administration, one that has threatened, belittled, and broken agreements with us.
Governing Requires Discipline
Alberta’s taxpayer-supported debt is projected to rise from $82 billion to $137 billion in just three years.
That’s a $55 billion increase.
At the same time, debt servicing costs are projected to nearly double to almost $5 billion annually — more than what government spends on most ministries combined.
This is no longer simply about the price of oil.
It’s about priorities, discipline, and the growing size and cost of government itself.
Over the last several years:
• spending increased roughly 30%
• bureaucracy expanded by roughly 30%
• government employment grew by more than 40,000 positions
• and Alberta swung into a massive deficit position
Meanwhile, this government broke its own fiscal rules - then adjusted the baseline afterward to claim compliance.
Fiscal responsibility cannot mean rewriting the rules every budget cycle.
Albertans expect government to be disciplined, transparent, and focused on long-term sustainability - not assuming ever-higher debt to pursue a misdirected political agenda.
Take a listen.

@87shenanigans Huh. Downsize to what and why? If they’re capable of maintaining the home they worked for, raised families in, sacrificed for, why should they?
