February, is the month with the highest number of behavior referrals, but let's focus on what's RIGHT with our students. Try to come up with 3 positive (different) things several days in a row. What we think and say about a student greatly impacts how we feel and treat them.
Anxiety is sometimes easy to see, like when a child is nervous about a test. Other times it can look like hyperactivity or an upset stomach. Calming phrases bring a sense of security, while also making space for them to share how they are feeling.
I had a teacher, Dr. Robert Hirsch, tell me I was going to do big things when I was constantly in trouble in 8th grade. I decided to believe him and try. Statements like this matter. Teach hard. Love harder. #TEACHers#teachertwitter#dreambig
@SouthRiverEMC@JCPS_NC Thanks so much South River EMC! I am super excited for your help in providing research-based online games to teach our children social-emotional skills!
Happy National School Nurse Appreciation Day to our @JCPS_NC School Nurses!!! I’m so thankful to work with each and every one of you. The work you do, going above and beyond expectations to support the health of our students, is truly amazing. #SND2020#SchoolNurses
Teachers understand the power of love to change the trajectory of a student’s life. - Anne Snyder #wholechildsummit https://t.co/RK3KgW5Clq As I reflect on this quote, I am so grateful to serve at a school full of teachers and administrators who deeply love their students. #MCES
Normally as #schoolcounselors our primary focus is on outcome data, but in times like these our focus has to shift to participation data. Staying connected has to be our top priority. Outreach to every student—every week. No excuses. #scchat#iledchat
@brewerhm@dbc_inc@TaraMartinEDU@burgess_shelley@burgessdave As a school counselor, I want to become relentless in believing in my students and transforming my school. I want to leave a legacy of passion and purpose, especially for those students who come to us broken and discouraged.
@brewerhm@dbc_inc@TaraMartinEDU@burgess_shelley@burgessdave I am a school counselor at a large elementary school and would love a copy! I would also like to request one for my co-counselor, Gina Montague, who is amazing. Our school is getting ready to study your book, and I am excited to learn what Relentless is all about.

Our obsession with academic rigor in the early grades has gone too far. #edchat#kindergarten
