@EtheriaInto @CineplexMovies It's bad enough that @Mattel has dropped the ball on getting things into stores in Canada. It was basically impossible to find new releases in stores, and having to get everything online. I only started to see some of the toys in person less than a week before the movie came out.

@EtheriaInto @CineplexMovies Tell me about it... It was extremely disappointing to go into the theater and not see anything available, then to find out this is the selection online.

The Skeletor bucket is neat, but the rest are rather underwhelming considering the other items found elsewhere.

@Redpyramid9 @Mattel Oh yeah, my wife groaned when it happened, and I was wincing right along. It definitely didn't come across as she wasn't interested, but more of a "lots of wild emotions going on and I do not have time to unpack this."

@MrMicPowers @Redpyramid9 I've seen the movie. They don't do that. The idea that all traditional traits are seen as toxic is just plain wrong. If you're not getting what the actual discussion around toxic masculinity is about, and dismiss it because it is "progressive", I don't know what to tell you.

@MrMicPowers @Redpyramid9 Don't see how acknowledging the issues men face in finding their place in society is doing that. If someone feels a movie based on a cartoon acknowledging life can be difficult for men and that there are a lot of negative pressure on them, it says a lot about them about them.

@MrMicPowers @Redpyramid9 The refusal to evaluate the expectations placed on us by society, ourselves, and other men literally kills. And the refusal to examine that because it is "progressive" just boggles my mind.

There is both toxic masculinity AND femininity. Denying it just doesn't make sense.

@MrMicPowers @Redpyramid9 See, I see men complain about the loneliness epidemic, and how we have a higher rate of suicide. But then when anyone tries to discuss why any of this is, they get yelled down because showing vulnerability or anything that isn't traditionally strong male is a sign of weakness.

@MrMicPowers @Redpyramid9 I mean, the lessons were pretty clear, and you can tell if someone didn't learn how to treat others decently. You can just not like the lessons and ignore them, but they were a core aspect of the show. Which is why they would have guided the tone the film makers went with.

@MrMicPowers @Redpyramid9 The core demographic grew up watching a show that ended every episode explaining how to be a good person. If someone hears "anti-toxic-masculinity" and doesn't see how that fits perfectly with the lessons of the original cartoon, then they didn't learn what the show was teaching.

@CoraBuhlert @EtheriaInto With the exception of the Mandalorian and Grogu, the others are a few weeks out, so the movie will have some breathing room. The Mandalorian also has the added weight of having a 3 season entry, has been out for a bit, and has very middling reviews.

But we'll see. 🤞
