How many of you ever ran on a cinder track in school? Pictured is a relay race at @FHSTrojans high school. Picture was from very late 80s as Fairfield got a new track in 1989. Imagine chalking the lines before every event held!!

The Carnegie Historical Museum was well represented at the Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards Banquet and won the Project of the Year award! This was a joint effort between the Carnegie Museum and the Carnegie Foundation!

This picture was taken at the 1908 Jefferson County Fair. The location at that time was where Carpenter and Spalding streets are on the north side of town. This was the second location of the fairgrounds until it moved out to where it currently is at the west edge of town.

We believe this photo is of the Fairfield Swimming Club. Unsure of year, but it was taken at the old municipal pool at O.B. Nelson park which is no longer there. #carnegiemuseum

This is Florence Gage and her horse, Commodore, September 7, 1905. This was part of the old settlers parade that day. This picture was taken outside of her house at 305 West Broadway. It was a little brick house that sat right next to Fairfield lumber.

Charles A. Herring Grocery store on the west side of the square in 1902. In 1966 the family had donated all the money to redo the front steps of the Carnegie Library in Fairfield, and also the lower art gallery which is now the “Herring Gallery” located in our museum! #fairfield

This is the William Edgar Johnson family about 1900 in Fairfield. They lived at 301 East Burlington. The house has been altered some and the steps you see here are removed in the old picture.
