I work full time, I have three kids, and I'm not a tech person. I'm still building businesses with AI, and I'll share every lesson here. Start with Clutvi, my tool that scores your TikTok and Instagram videos. The first 100 founders get 20% off while they stay subscribed (ends 31 Oct). https://t.co/o7iR2YRpcU (I built this)
Etsy printable sellers: the biggest search I found this week is "Christmas Eve box", about 14,800 UK searches a month. Parents fill the box, so sell what goes inside: labels, tags, activity sheets. Low competition for the inserts. Free weekly trends: https://t.co/h0Y6SLAdNo
Founders code ends 31 Oct. Use FOUNDERS for 20% off Printable Pilot for life. It's for the first 100 sellers only, and there's a 3-day free trial first. https://t.co/ajHgY9TY7r
Lesson from running a few AI helpers alongside a full-time job: left alone, they'll happily do the same job twice. Giving them one shared place to hand work to each other fixed most of the muddle.
Good news for small accounts: real replies now count for more than likes from people who like everything. I'll keep having proper conversations rather than chasing numbers.
~14 hours ago, ๐ updated the algorithm (again).
There are a few new things worth noting:
โข New "user debias" model: adjusts engagement based on how "generous" each viewer is
โข Likes from people who like everything will start counting less
โข Engagement from "picky" users who rarely interact will count more
โข Engagement pods and "like for like" groups got weaker
โข Some general search improvements
โข Media (video and image) are now tracked as their own signals
What still matters most:
โข Posting high-quality, original content
โข Replies (5x) and quotes (5x) are weighted far above likes (0.5x)
โข Shares via DM (5x) and copy link (20x) are the strongest positive signals
โข A predicted follow is worth 4x
โข Reports, mutes, blocks, and "not interested" are heavily negative
โข Posts older than 48 hours drop out of For You
โข Posting too much in a row decays your reach
TL;DR: regardless of algo changes, just focus on producing content that is unique to you.
@NicholasDulait This is so useful. So it's less about the trend and more about saying what people actually type. Did the search words go in the captions, the on-screen text, or both?
@CurtisBlackmore Agree it's a big shift. One thing I'd add for small sellers: keep a human yes before anything gets listed. My AI helpers draft, I approve. Saves a lot of clean-up.
@NicholasHPhoto Same shape as mine: one main bot I talk to, and it passes jobs to the others. The rule that made it work for me: nothing goes out until I say yes.
@builtwithrubel@grok Not a prediction, just what I'm seeing as a newer KDP publisher: AI makes books easier to make, so there'll be more of them. A real niche, honest content and good reviews are what will still stand out.
@masteroogwgay@grok Digital products have been the most realistic for me alongside a full-time job: simple printables or guides. No stock, no posting, and you can design in the Canva app on a phone.
@VP_code_n_lift Social media, easily. Full-time job and three kids, so posting always came last. Now AI drafts my posts and I just say yes or no each day.
@pennylover20 Views mean Etsy is showing you, so the hard bit is working. Next I'd compare your first photo and price with the top 3 listings for the same search. That's usually where the gap is.
@Kernal707 I'd add: read Etsy's own post when the rules change, not the hot takes. The 22 Oct AI update changed what photos some listings need, so it's worth a check before you list.
I kept thinking I'd start when life calmed down. With three kids and a full-time job, it doesn't. So I'm building in the gaps instead. If you're waiting for the right time, this is your sign.
Biggest lesson from building side businesses with AI around a full-time job: give each AI helper one job. One for my Etsy shop. One for my books. One for X. It keeps things simple, and I always know who to ask.
@brflux This is it exactly. I'm not technical at all. What changed things for me was getting AI to explain things in plain English instead of jargon. Making it less scary is the real work.
@OlapadeIfee Great list. One to add for digital sellers: say exactly what's in the download in your first photo and the first line of the description. Buyers skip anything that makes them guess.
@MirMurtazaNoah Good thread. One tip for new KDP authors: don't repeat words that are already in your title or subtitle. Use the 7 slots for the phrases people actually type that your title doesn't cover.
@mrfundman It's not one bot, it's a little team ๐ I work full time and have three kids, so a Chief of Staff bot briefs me, and there's one each for my Etsy shop, my books and my X. Nothing goes out until I say yes.
@carlashfield Love seeing another non-technical UK builder doing this. I run my side businesses the same way, with one AI helper per job. The fact-check step is the one I'd never skip. Do you still read everything before it goes live?
