Most of us will have heard of hot flushes during menopause, but there are some lesser-known symptoms that the perimenopause and menopause can bring as well. One of these is crawling skin, which is what we’re talking about for day 15 of #DeckTheHormones.
Women can experience numbness, pins and needles, prickling, itching, or even the sensation of insects crawling over you (which is called formication). It happens because your skin nerve function is affected by the changes to hormone levels in your body that happen during perimenopause and menopause.
Aside from rebalancing your hormones with HRT, some women also find that moisturisers and emollients can help, and also light exercise and relaxation.
