After her talk I am motivated to explore more nonconventional views toward infidelity. Her concluding statement was most powerful in my opinion (when refering to a couple in the aftermath of an affair), “your first marriage is over, would you lije to start a new one?”. sgsx11

Esthel Perel had many interesting points in her talk that I never thought of prior. This is kind of stressful because it shows how complex this topic really is and that there are so many perspectives that need to be kept in mind. #sgsx11

I didn’t know that the majority of people who experience affairs stay together. It could jolt marriages back to life. More honesty and openness. The fear of loss can influence a new kind of truth. #sgsx11

Having affairs make people feel “alive”. Seen as a antidote of death. Affairs are more about desire than sex, this is interesting to me. Goes along the lines of “you want what you cant have” #sgsx11

Infidelity is encouraged by bringing back vitality. Seek the “adolescence we never had”. Looking for another self. #sgsx11
