Peptides for women, explained by someone who actually read the studies. Skin, recovery, energy, body comp. Enthusiast, not a doctor. Not medical advice.
@KrisRChase I was amazed. I asked ChatGPT what’s the best way to arrange each of those words and it told me SHAPE. I was moments away from going with SPHEA
Here's how to know if your research peptide is compounding pharmacy grade. The Certificates of Analysis (COA's) should test for SHAPE:
Sterility
Heavy Metals
Amount
Purity
Endotoxins
Think of it like, "if you want to use Reta to get into shape, you gotta first have SHAPE"
Talking about 'peptides' like they're one thing that works one way is just wrong. Some get inside the cell, some only signal from the surface, and two of them can have nothing in common but being strings of amino acids.
@thegarybrecka The boring marker I care about most after 40: can you get off the floor without using your hands. That tells you a lot before any lab does.
@joeyyochheim True, but hunger decides whether that deficit lasts. Protein first at meals is the boring move that makes dessert and late carbs much less likely to turn into a weeklong spiral.
KPV is the anti-inflammatory peptide that actually shuts inflammation down instead of selling you vague 'wellness.' About the most side-effect-free thing you can buy, and it does real work on both gut and skin.
@hubermanlab@tferriss@YouTube Peptides are mainstream now. The useful question isn't whether they work, it's which tradeoff you're willing to live with, because every good one has one.
People ask if GHK-Cu works. I know for a fact it does. I took these photos 6 months apart. I was applying GHK topically to my roots injecting 2mg/day subcutaneously.
And that's not even the worst my hairline has looked.
The pet peptide industry is taking off: & yes there are a lot of data on BPC in animals. Mostly mice. But I know at least 3 dog owners who are giving BPC to their injured and/or aging dogs. The cat owners seem less peptide curious. Parrot, reptile and exotic owners eerily quiet…
I don't buy the "GLP-1s flatten your personality" panic. Most women are just feeling what life is like with the food noise gone. Sometimes the nightly wine urge and 11pm scrolling go too. That wasn't your personality.
The hair loss women blame on a GLP-1 is almost always the crash diet, not the drug. Lose weight that fast on barely any protein and you shed hair. Eat enough and it mostly doesn't happen.
The idea that GLP-1s will save your brain from dementia is way ahead of reality. When the memory data came back, the drug hadn't slowed decline at all. A few blood markers looked better. Nobody's memory or daily function did. Everyone wants these to be brain drugs. They're not, yet.
Most women on a GLP-1 stall around month three, and the reflex is to ask for a higher dose. Usually they've just eaten themselves into a corner. Tiny lean meals, no fat, so the only fullness left comes from the drug. When I eat real fat alongside my protein, I stay full on far less medication, because fat sets off your gut's own fullness signals. I'd rather eat well and hold the lowest dose that works than eat like a bird and keep climbing the dose.
I don’t think BPC-157 is even a peptide. If you've used it on an injury that's been lingering for months, you know within 3 days―when the injury is 100% gone and never comes back―you know the FDA has no jurisdiction to regulate it. It seems perfectly suited for the Ministry of Magic.
