A curfew on girls does not make society safer. It merely forces women to carry the burden of male behaviour.
If anyone needs to be home by 8 pm, perhaps itโs the gender making the streets unsafe.
All the moral stories yโall are parading, and not one is about ending male violence.
Not one about โdo not kill.โ
Not one about โwalk away if a woman chooses to be with other men.โ
NONE!!!
Instead, itโs just different people finding different ways to blame a woman for a manโs violence and transgressions- AGAIN!!!

Curiously, how many of you are currently serving as "procreation project" for your family?
โAt what point do parents realise their children aren't an extension of their unfulfilled ambitions?
GBV remains alarmingly high, with IJM citing global figures showing 55% of women have experienced intimate partner violence, while only 12% of cases involving women and children reach the justice system. IJM is calling for stronger reporting, survivor support and justice reforms.
๐จ OBR steps up fight against gender-based violence

@MmutaMD@emeka_ug Malaria is actually deadly, and the treatment is costly if it's severe. I'm no medic but I've seen first-hand the damaged it caused to a loved one, to brush it off as 'mere.'
People defend the most ridiculous things with mbu itโs tradition as if tradition exists in a vacuum. Traditions are created, upheld, and shaped by social structures and many of them are deeply rooted in patriarchy and by default they harm women.
A Queen Mother canโt bury her son, a mother canโt be present at bride price negotiations, a mother cannot be present at a daughterโs give away ceremony, a mother acts a certain way in the presence of in-laws, all are these archaic misogynistic norms ๐ฎ
At what point do we draw the line on cultural practices? What exactly would have happened if the Queen Mother had been allowed to bury her son? We were told the King cannot be buried beyond 3:00 PM, but he was buried at 5:00 PM and nothing happened. Culture is not static, and it should not be; culture is dynamic.
Preventing a mother from burying her own child because he carried a title is one of the darkest things Iโve watched unfold.
Before King Oyo belonged to a kingdom, he was somebodyโs son. ๐คฆ๐พโโ๏ธ
Absolutely heartbreaking!
