The underdog story is one of the greatest things in sports. Instead of giving FSU a chance to write their own chapter in history, the committee took the pen away and closed the book. Even if FSU would have lost in the playoffs (to one of the best teams in cfb, mind you), they earned that right. Check this out 👇

In the CFP Era, 19 of the 27 games were decided by at least 3 scores. There has been a blowout in every single year of the playoffs. Yes, those same teams that passed the "eye test" and got put in got blown out.

The lower ranked seeds have won 13 games, including 6 of the 9 title games. The higher ranked teams have won 14 games and are 3-6 in title games. There has never been a year that a lower ranked seed did not win at least 1 playoff game. In 2014, the higher ranked teams lost every game. This is proof that 1) The eye test is wrong... a lot! And 2) The underdog story is alive and well, or it was.

Neither Texas nor Alabama had a perfect resume, but FSU did. Every game will have a winner and a loser. Of course, FSU could have lost, but they found a way to win all their games up to selection Saturday and deserved the chance to write the ending to their own story.
