I’ve been experimenting with my self-talk and have found that even in a few short days, the positive changes I’m making have a ripple effect in my life.
How do you talk to yourself to encourage your own growth?
Take a step forward every day, even if it feels like you are sliding backwards.
Be willing to pivot, adjust, and learn from mistakes and lessons — think of them as guides on your journey.
Enjoy the journey. The present is a gift.
CA just settled a 5th enforcement with an unregistered data broker. If your company is a "data broker" under CA law, or if you think it might be, reach out to me with questions on the potential applicability to your organization or the CA rules.

“Gratefulness has three steps: not missing the opportunity, appreciating the opportunity, and using or enjoying the opportunity. By this method we come fully alive, full of joy, which is what we are all longing for.” —Brother David Steindl-Rast
One thing that helps with motivation is counting up your wins, on good days and bad. Even on a bad day, there are usually a few small wins. Look to those for motivation to keep trying.
Another lesson in Boundary Setting:
Figure out what you’re asking for and clearly communicate your boundary(/ies) and the consequences for not respecting them.
A reminder for anyone who needs it:
The sun is always shining, even when it’s raining in our immediate proximity, we just have to find a way to get above the clouds to reach the sun.
Flying on an airplane through/out of a storm can help shift your perspective.
Today I am celebrating small wins. Finally creating a post on Substack, finishing and sending off some documents, dealing with another person's big emotions gracefully.
How are you celebrating your small wins today?
Businesses take time to develop, and it is possible to get things started quickly as well.
What are some questions you had when you were starting out as a business owner?
When you have goals and dreams, move them forward. Find the advice that works for you. Take intentional action, especially small steps, toward where you want to go.
How are you taking intentional action today?
Nature is a powerful healing and grounding force.
If you can, make sure to get out into nature every day, even if it’s a walk in the park or a visit to a garden.
@BiyaniAkshat @Tim_Denning Although investors usually provide an injection of capital and kids generally add additional expenses to your bottom line. I’m definitely pro-kids.
@TheJacobBear It definitely works for some brands to be vague and say nothing about the offering. The brands you mention above have been successful (maybe not X; it coasted from Twitter’s influence) through marketing campaigns that portrayed something about the brand to the customer.
What’s in a name? Can you convey meaning, kindness, purpose, your product?
Naming your company or offering can actually help or hurt your business. Something too vague may get a trademark. Something too specific, while helpful and descriptive, may be limiting.
