As Director of Toy Mgmt Services, Ruby determines where new toys are to be stationed on the job.
This is new. The sunroom is apparently at capacity and RubyRoo needs to relocate some toys.
How’d she do? Does she get a small raise or a notice to do better next time? ❤️🩹🐾🐾🤷🏼♀️
Morning routines resume.
Ruby is a little more “in mum’s face”than normal, but that’s just fine. ❤️🩹♥️
This little love bug has also shown some melting towards her papa. 🎉
Mum’s week away may have actually done some good.
Will share the signs we see in future posts. 🙏🏻 🐾
Ruby update.
The first couple days have been rough. Big time fears, confusion & uncertainty.
Papa is doing his best & is being very patient.
Ruby is starting to not dart from him. Our behaviorist had a good visit with Ruby & feels this is good for her and him.
Miss her!
Ruby update #2
Sigh. Mum needs to get home.
For the most part, she stays curled up on our bed. Won’t go upstairs or sit w/papa in the kitchen for treats.
Sigh. Mum needs to get home.
She does perk up a little outside.
See you soon sweet girl!
🥰 ✈️ ✈️ ❤️🩹
🎉The Ruby Reunion 🎉
“My Mum is home! My Mummy is home!”
After 3 flights, a 3hr delay in Charlotte due to weather and Beryl storms in Houston,
Mum is home safe. Papa and Ruby are happy.
It’s a good Friday! Cheers!
That day is here. Should be an interesting week for our rescue nugget.
Routines are going to be blown up.
Mum is heading out of state for a week. Duty calls with family! 🩷
We hope Ruby learns she can fully depend on her papa.
Because she can. ❤️🩹
See y’all in a week! 🙏🏻😊
Ruby’s version of Tongue Out Tuesday is reminiscent of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, just in reverse.
Her black nose is under cover and she is now ready to perform “Ruby the Red Nose Rescue, had a very shiny nose..and if you ever saw it…. 🎶
Well you get the idea. ❤️🩹🦌
When you’re loving a formerly abused pup like our Ruby, it’s important to use safe discipline while allowing some “bad” behaviors to exist.
This right here. She is terrified by the newspaper & the sounds.
But being able to approach, steal and rip is good. Settles her ANS. ❤️🩹
I’m BACCCCK! ❤️🩹🐾🐾
Some days just seem to be non stop and mum can’t adequately post about all my cuteness.
But as you can see, I’m still smiling! Never believe people who say Bassethounds can’t smile.
This mug defies them all!
Happy smiling Sunday! 🥰
To those wondering if their abused rescue will ever unwind a little:
This video is a big deal. A video of hope. ❤️🩹
1.Ruby’s upstairs now
2.She’s wagging often
3.She approaches papa
4.She’s curious not afraid
5.She goes upstairs alone
How long did this take? 17 months! ❤️🩹🐾
In this early 2025 video, we see Ruby was applying for her “Director of Toy Mgmt” position.
We’d only had this rescue muffin 4 months. Figuring out what she felt safe to do was just beginning.
Today, she takes her job serious & all toys gather in the sunroom.
Go Ruby! ❤️🩹♥️
RubyRoo & her water fountain. 💦
Surely this is the full 180 from an abused, starved and neglected pup to one now living the charmed life of being spoiled & loved.
A filtered, wireless water fountain! Yes, you read that right.
Here’s the proof. 💦 💦
Thank you @miabenetti
To round out the 4th of July 250, one more early morning video of this adorable rescue nugget before the festivities began. 🇺🇸
From our family to yours, we hope those celebrating had a marvelous day & enjoyed good friends, great food & fireworks that didn’t frighten your pups!
Happy 4th! 🇺🇸
18 months of freedom from abuse & neglect, Ruby struggled but now is thriving.
Tail wagging like fireworks on America's 250th, running, play bowing & finding joy. She's living that true American spirit: freedom and the pursuit of happiness.
Happy 4th! 🇺🇸
This little rescue nugget is living her best, surely spoiled, life now. ❤️🩹
Part of her sad history was neglect and starvation. Not any more!!!
Even so, learning to wait, sit, wait & then eat is good for her. Or maybe it’s just good for mum.
Either way, she loves routines!
With 106° degree weather now thru October, ugh, outdoor plans happen very early or later evening.
Which disrupts Ruby’s mornings with mum. Uh oh!
Part of our bonding these past 18 mos allows her to bounce back fast when necessary change to routines happen.
Good girl Ruby!❤️🩹
Miss Ruby vs Texas
It’s June in Southern Texas. Which means:
Scorching heat 🥵
Thick walls of humidity
Saharan dust 🤧
Mosquitos
Not fit for human or pups outside. So for boredom moments, will mum go for a car ride with her sidekick?
(We did)
Piggybacking off of the sniffari post yesterday w/this little rescue nugget…
Sometimes the result isn’t sleeping. Sometimes it’s a calm, relaxed & happy dog.
Our Queen of the Sploot shows amazing progress from the “scared of everything” girl we adopted 18 mos ago.
Ruby❤️🩹
Fearful, formerly abused dogs need a way to calm their triggered nervous system.
In addition to gut health, brain work is key. Sniffari’s are amazing for this!
10 minutes sniffing out front calms and regulates this girl more than a long exercise walk.
Rest up, sweet girl
