Pope Leo XIV is not ‘woke’, nor a Marxist, nor a progressive, nor a leftist.
The Pope is simply a Christian.
When he defends the poor and the innocent, he is following the Gospel.
When he denounces injustice, he is imitating Christ.
When he speaks for the poor, he is repeating word for word the Sermon on the Mount.
Those who are angry at him are not fighting with Pope Leo XIV.
They are fighting with Christ.
Because it was Jesus who said: ‘Whatever you did for the least of my brothers, you did for me.’
Rejecting the Pope for being merciful is not something a Christian does.
The problem is not that Leo XIV has strayed from Christ.
The problem is that some have strayed so far from the Gospel that they no longer recognize it when they see it.
@Brcremer But they say they support this government because they want to save unborn babies, protect “freedoms” and preserve the Christian way of life (aka no trans rights or same sex marriage). They shine their halos over those issues with no regard for the love Jesus taught us to show.
@jcfesc59@Rothmus Both the short man and the trans woman are fellow humans deserving of respect. And, trans women do not exist at my expense. Their existence costs me nothing except the friendship I choose to give, for which I receive valued friendship in return.
@BehizyTweets People with theological views that differ from yours are not automatically demonic. And Trump has no biblical scholarship experience and expresses no theological positions, however he does lie, cheat and demean others. And MAGA hails him as godly. Ludicrous.
@LNSSEZ@Brcremer There are many immigrants who came here through legal processes only to have those attempts invalidated by this administration, and now they’re unfairly being called “illegals” and treated as criminals. That’s not ok.
If you’re using undocumented people’s tax records to find them and kidnap them, then it was never about them not paying taxes.
If you’re showing up at their place of employment, then it was never about them not working.
If you’re showing up at courthouses, it was never about getting them to “do it the right way.”
If you’re kidnapping women and children, it was never about criminals.
If you’re not giving them due process, it was never about the Constitution.
If you’re spending billions of dollars to do it, it was never about the economy.
And if you’re doing all of this in the name of a 34-time convicted felon, then it was never about following the law.
@highbrow_nobrow@Acyn Figured this accusation was coming, when I read this morning that cuts made by the Trump administration during the shut down may have permanently damaged our ability to capture accurate data from the past two months.
Georgia’s Medicaid work requirement program spent two times as much on administrative costs as on health care costs — while preventing thousands of eligible Georgians from accessing health care.
Say it with me: Medicaid work requirements don’t work.
