Is your house in order? Tell me, is your house in order?!
I’m almost done with the fourth book of the trilogy, and I see a fifth coming out next year. Read them all in quick succession, now need to wait a year. The hypnotism aspect throughout is frightening.
Do you have something in the corner of your eye that you can’t get out?
While the bear in the movie gave me a nightmare (first since that vampire used blood as hair grease in “30 Days of Night”), I otherwise hated how far removed it was from the book.
Comedy of AI errors: Lawyers on both sides of a case misuse AI, cite fake hallucinated cases.
At the show-cause hearing, "each of the attorneys expressed embarrassment and apologized to the Court."
"Neither of them verified the legal authority output by AI before filing their briefs."
In other words, there were two clients who basically were paying for ChatGPT (or whatever LLM) to argue against itself.
Neither of them realized this until the court issued the OSC!
Fines all around (between $1,000 and $3,500), other sanctions include pro hac status revoked, disqualified from practicing in the district for 2 years, among other things:
I read tech news every single day, but for the past few years, 90%+ of them are AI and LLM-related, and I hate it so much. I mean, I also hate LLM itself but I can tolerate it. It's just extremely overhyped, so annoying, it has degraded the experience of enjoying tech news.
Nettled, This Week: Nothing says “we figured it out” like two political opposites nodding along (possibly napping) to the same half-measure.
