Former Celtic hero Odsonne Edouard insists Lens have the best fans he has ever experienced since his time with the Hoops.

The French hitman is involved in an unlikely title race in his homeland after scoring nine goals for Lens this season, who sit second in Ligue 1 - just two points behind leaders PSG.

The club are aiming for what would be only their second ever title and their first for 28 years with Edouard their star man.

Former PSG youth Edouard netted 57 league goals in just 78 starts for Celtic in a four-year spell before completing a £18 million move to Crystal Palace.

He returned to France this summer and has compared their enthusiastic fans with the Celtic supporters during his time in Glasgow.

Edouard said: "The Lens fans are incredible. It's something I've rarely experienced in my career. The last time I saw a crowd like that was at Celtic Park.

"With every ball, every tackle won, every chance, every shot, you feel that extra energy the fans bring. The fact that they're there with us from the first second to the last pushes us on.

"It's like at Celtic, where the influence of the fans can make a massive difference to the outcome of the match.

"I'd like to switch places for 90 minutes to see and experience what it's like to be on the other side of the barrier and to feel the emotions.

"I've never been sent off in my career, but if it ever happens, maybe I will go and stand with the fans for the game where I am suspended!"
