Until a law is passed to amend the Residential Tenancies Act, a 3.8% rent cap is voluntary on landlords. The Residential Tenancies Tribunal has no legal powers to ensure compliance of a rent cap that does not have the force of law #nbpoli

Looking at these numbers again its clear diesel and furnace oil will absolutely jump tonight and by 13 cents at least - possibly as high as 15 cents. If gasoline jumps, and it probably will, 7 cents is likely.

Not sure who needs to know this but rent increase notices in NB (since December 18) require 6 months notice unless a tenant has a fixed term lease. If a notice went out December 31 for an April 1 increase chances are it is not valid. New rules here:
