Party discipline is generally so rigid in New Brunswick that disagreeing with a motion to adjourn the house may be viewed by some as a revolt or a rebellion causing an election.
This is very silly and not an accurate reflection of the constitutional order. #nbpoli
@sarkonakj@JoshDehaas Note that consent of the attorney general of canada is required so at minimum, police officers in provinces without pre charge screening are not going to be laying charges on their own accord under this section.
In the June 6th Canada Gazette, Parks Canada employee Scott Reid was given permission to seek nomination and be a candidate as a councilor for Fundy Albert 3 days before the New Brunswick Municipal election!!!
Mr Reid was successfully elected as a councilor #nbpoli#cdnpoli
This application for judicial review is unlikely to be successful.
The laws regarding an MP's sessional allowance are quite clear and Parliamentary Privilege means it is up to the House of Commons itself not the individual MP to grant an exception. #cdnpoli#nbpoli#cdnlaw
NEW from me...
New Brunswick MP wants federal court to order Ottawa not to pay him
In his latest move in a crusade to forgo a mandated House of Commons pay raise, Mike Dawson is seeking a federal court judicial review to block it

@adamhuras Newfoundland & Labrador, NWT and Nunavut are the only jurisdictions where you cannot import liquor into NB via direct sale. But that is due to those jurisdictions not having a reciprocal arrangement.
If the question is not clear, there is no obligation on the government of Canada to negotiate.
Given the nature of the proposed question is to hold a separate legally binding referendum question, that is likely the end of the inquiry for this issue under the clarity act.

Will the Alberta independence referendum question trigger section 1 of the Clarity Act requiring the House of Commons to consider within 30 days whether the question is clear? Likely? #abpoli#cdnpoli#cdnlaw
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has added this referendum question to be voted on October 19th
โShould Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?โ
There are a variety of a list of factors to consider including whether there is a clear expression of the will of the people, the views of provincial assemblies, aboriginal representatives.
@stphnmaher@JessMarinDavis Given the bill was introduced on Monday, my assumption is that the department of finance was focused on the tabling of the spring economic statement on Tuesday.
Finance does not even have any press release on their website.

@stphnmaher Technically the RCMP are no longer responsible for physical security on the grounds of Parliament Hill since the creation of the Parliamentary Protective Service in 2015. Although the PPS is overseen by a member of the RCMP (PPS itself isn't a police force).
@cspotweet Under the doctrine of Parliamentary Privilege and the principle of separation of powers, any police entering the Assembly Buildings for such purpose would need permission from the Speaker. Recommend that you speak to their office. Refer below:
King Charles: "In just a few weeks, the United States and Canada will be among those to welcome the world as hosts of the FIFA World Cup. So in one sense, Mr. President, as heads of state, we are joint hosts."
In the more recent 2003 funding agreement for the completion of TransCanada Highway, the federal government allows tolls but they must apply to all drivers regardless of province, and an alternative route be made available. #nbpoli

Prime minister weighs in on New Brunswickโs toll plan, suggesting it amounts to interprovincial trade barrier, vows 'pressure' for changes https://t.co/COgzKixW5k
